what is planet fitness total body enhancement

This is a body cell enhancement, rejuvenation, and toning process achieved with a red light therapy booth machine at Planet Fitness. The machine is also called Beauty Angel RVT 30 and is exclusively for the use of black cardholders. It is known to reduce cellulite, wrinkles, and stretch marks.

A guide on how to use the body enhancement machine at Planet Fitness.

Other things it is used for are the burning of calories, weight loss, improvement of skin tone, and micro-circulation plus a couple of other benefits.

The machine employs red light therapy and vibration technology to achieve its intended use. It is built by a German company called Beauty Angel, a subsidiary of the JK Group which is currently owned by Ergoline.

In this article, titled “What is Planet Fitness total body enhancement”, we’ll go over the details of the Beauty Angel machine, the user guide, the benefits, pros and cons, and the side effects.

The Planet Fitness Total Body Enhancement machine

The Planet Fitness Total Body Enhancement machine is a booth weighing nearly 480kg. It’s about 1.4 meters long when closed but over 1.8 meters when open. Its width is the same as the length but it’s over 2.3 meters in height.

Red light therapy panels cover the walls of the booth. It has overhead ventilation at the ceiling to keep you cool and comfortable. At the bottom where you stand is a vibration pad that tones your whole body by stimulating muscular activity.

In the middle of the vibration pad are usually feet icons that show where to place your feet. Research has proven the machine’s short-term whole-body vibration (WBV) is quite beneficial to your musculoskeletal system.1

There are left and right straps above your head. You are expected to hold onto them for support and balance while using the machine especially if you use the vibration program. Holding onto them also helps to expose your underarms and sides of your trunk to the therapeutic red light.

It also comes with an MP3 player connection for music therapy while you are in the machine.

The recommended usage of the Beauty Angel is a sessional duration of 12 minutes, 2-3 sessions weekly for 90 days with at least a 24-hour gap between sessions.

It has four programs which you get on by pressing a start button on the machine’s controller. The same button is used to turn off the machine by holding it down. Its four programs are:

1. Low Intensity: Its low-impact vibration improves muscle flexibility and loosens muscle tightness. It’s also called the Feel Great program.

2. Medium Intensity: Its medium intensity vibration helps to improve muscle tone and it’s great for starters or restoration of the physique. Another name for it is the new you program.

3. High Intensity: This is designed for those interested in sports and exercise. Its intense and high-frequency vibrations help to strengthen muscles.

4. Mixed Intensity: Its mixed-intensity vibrations tighten muscles and tone them, thereby achieving what more than one program does.

You should take a bath to wash off any cosmetics or lotions on the skin before having the red-light therapy. Since the light doesn’t penetrate clothing, the recommendation is to go in naked.

Like most people, you may not like to be naked so you can wear something that exposes as much of your body as possible. Above is a video on how to use the total body enhancement machine.

What it does: The benefits.

Reduction in pain and inflammation: It stimulates physiological processes that alleviate joint pain and inflammation as stated in the National Library of Medicine (NLM).2

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production: The dual effect of the vibrations and red-light therapy enhances the production of energy in the cells called adenosine triphosphate. This is the energy currency in the cells that drive processes like muscle contraction, nerve conduction, biochemical synthesis, and various other cellular activities in your body.

Fat burning and weight loss: By improving the production of adenosine triphosphate, it energizes you to engage in vigorous workouts that help you burn more fat and lose weight. The benefits of using it for weight loss are enhanced by combining it with complementary nutrition as calorie intake is an important part of any weight loss program.

Wound healing: The improvement of microcirculation and other cellular activities accelerates wound healing.

Muscle growth and development: Improved cellular energy production enhances anabolic activities that help in the growth and development of your muscles.

Fatigue reduction: Beauty Angel is known to be energizing and has a program for this exact purpose.

Anti-aging: Research has shown that light therapy helps to reduce wrinkles that result from UV exposure or photo-damaged skin.3

Treats acne and other skin blemishes: With its cellular energy and activities stimulating effect, it has been successfully used to treat acne and various skin blemishes including those caused by UV rays from the sun.

Removes cellulite: People who use the machine have reported remarkable reduction or removal of cellulite.

What should I wear in the total body enhancement machine?

This depends on your need for the machine or which of the programs you want to use. There are two therapeutic programs in a Planet Fitness total body enhancement machine. These are vibration and light therapy.

What to wear for the body vibration.

The vibration program doesn’t require any bodily exposure or special costume. Inside the machine, there is a vibrapad which you stand on. It’s able to cause bodily vibration through its contact with your feet.

You could wear just about anything that you deem fit for the vibration. For instance, whatever you wore to the gym that day.

What to wear for the light therapy.

For this program, you’ll need your body exposed as much as you are comfortable with. For some, this may mean going in their underwear. This is because the light does not penetrate your clothes so exposing as much of your body as possible will enable you to get the most out of the Planet Fitness total body enhancement machine.

Apart from clothes, you may also want to wear protective goggles for your eyes though the light emitted by the machine has no UV rays.

Side effects of the use of total body enhancement.

Though no adverse side effects have been associated with red light therapy, the manufacturer warns of the following possible effects.

  • Nausea;
  • hyperglycemia for diabetics;
  • A rapid drop in Blood pressure;
  • Body Itch;
  • Dizziness.

Precautions to the use of the machine.

1. Black Tattoos: The Beauty Angel manufacturer says you can use the equipment with your tattoos. However, research published in the National Library of Medicine has shown that blisters could form when black tattoos are exposed to low-level light therapy (LLLT).4 This has been suspected to be due to the heated Iron oxide in the ink used for the tattoo.

Though the equipment used in the above-mentioned research isn’t the Beauty Angel, it may be wise for you to cover areas of your body that have black tattoos.

2. 18 Years and below: You may need special permission to use the machine if you are 18 or under as the manufacturer doesn’t recommend its use for this age group.

3. Eye protection: This hasn’t been said to be necessary but it may serve your interest to wear something protective over your eyes.

4. Jewelry: Taking off your jewelry is recommended just as it applies to mammography.

5. Bent knees: It is recommended you keep your knees slightly bent especially when using the vibrapad. Speaking as an expert, the knees are anatomically supposed to be slightly bent while you are standing or bearing weight through them. This is their natural state and anything other than this could result in undesirable symptoms in the long run with the use of the vibrapad.

6. Seizures or epilepsy: The machine may not be safe for you if you suffer from seizures or epilepsy.

Does all planet fitness have total body enhancement?

Planet Fitness centers are individually owned. Though the franchise has standards of operation that cut across the board, the specific gym equipment you’ll find in any of its centers may vary. For instance, very few centers have Saunas so much so that people concluded Planet Fitness centers don’t have the equipment.

In that same light, not all Planet Fitness centers have a total body enhancement machine. However, quite a lot of them do. It’s a good idea to contact your local Planet Fitness Club to find out if they have the machine.

Conclusion.

You may have your total body enhancement before or after a workout. Having it before the workout energizes your body in preparation for a great workout. Having it after the workout helps you to get over the physical stress and fatigue you may experience immediately following your workout.

The total body enhancement machine can’t be used for tanning. It emits no UV lights. Click To Tweet

You may find it interesting that having a black card allows you to invite someone else to try out the red-light therapy. Similarly, as stated in an earlier article, anyone who has one can also invite you to experience the treatment if you don’t have one.
